"Why an Ecological Cluster?"

The idea for an ecological cluster company arises from the destruction of the environment and its subsequent socioeconomic impact in affected areas. It is clear that we need a sustainable development model where we calculate the ecological footprint of all products produced and consumed, and we transform all sectors based on innovative and environmentally friendly technologies. Any solution that ignores the socioeconomic aspect, especially in vulnerable areas, would be incomplete because achieving sustainability requires improving the quality of life for the affected communities. That's why Macoproductos is focusing on projects that economically strengthen communities in their respective regions. Our initial focus is Colombia, but in the medium term, we aim to export this development model to other countries.
That is why our company has several goals aimed at the development and growth of society and the environmental care.
  • Generate development in each of our Green Growth programs that allows us to have double and/or triple impact in each of our processes. This includes high investment in projects, land recovery for organic farming, job creation, production of organic fertilizers, high productivity, and new opportunities in domestic and international markets, as well as support for indigenous and vulnerable communities. Additionally, we aim for forest and ecosystem recovery, developing industrial forestry that creates new developments and opportunities. Ultimately, we aim to restore water, oxygen, and support contamination reduction through mountainous natural fertilizers that flow downstream to flat regions.
  • Consolidate and incorporate communities and their territories in order to address their economic, social, and educational needs, aiming for a balance between community existence and sustainability.
  • Develop biodegradable packaging based on the raw materials available in their region.
  • Promote improvements in education, housing, health, and employment for all members of the community.
  • Contribute to the good nutrition of people with nutritious and healthy products.
  • Increase reforestation efforts.
  • Offer our Colombian agricultural products and handicrafts to countries across the world.
  • Raise awareness within the community about the importance of continuing to promote change in favor of social and environmental benefits.
  • Harnessing Colombian talent and foreign technology from around the world to create high-quality products that in turn allow to extract the best nutrients from these raw materials, thus generating innovative market-leading products.
  • Provide ecological spaces as tourist centers where people can visit and learn about what Macoproductos aims to promote in the community. Support communities and associations in their customs and livelihoods by designing special products together with them such as handicrafts, packaging, products like foliage, and typical flowers of the region, which can be marketed in domestic and international markets.
  • Design the individual Ecological Cluster Development Model of the region considering the Ecotourism program. This model integrates the community and associations with technologies focused on service, manufacturing, and marketing of tourism as a package.
  • Promote exportable crops such as flowers, fruits, foliage, and other special items used in decoration, art, and as commercial complements for other products.
  • Train communities and associations in new productive technologies for agriculture and animal husbandry, enabling them to be more productive in terms of genetics and biotechnological processes, as well as resistant to upcoming environmental changes
In order to develop the Macoproductos project, several territories were selected as reference points, where we diagnosed their needs, established the procedures according to specificities of each community where methodologies for ecosystem recovery will be applied. We have identified the following regions to develop local ecological clusters:
  • Coffee Region - Antioquía - Chocó - Valle del Cauca - Tolima - Huila
  • Cauca - Nariño - Putumayo
  • Córdoba - Atlántico - Guajira - Arauca
  • Cundinamarca - Boyacá
  • Oriental Plains - Puerto Carreño, Vichada
  • San Andrés & Providencia
